FILM DIARY

Yes, criticisms welcome!

Keep in mind though, there’s only so much we can do.  We can re-edit what we have, but it’s excessively unlikely that we can ever do any re-shooting.  It is what it is, as far as that’s concerned…

Not Kira’s best performance.  She’s not very <Irony alert> animated, which is really sad because she’s reviewing animation.  Go figure.

Again:  The show is entirely produced by a bunch of amateur volunteers working through cable public access stations.  None of the station staff are even involved in the production (apart from answering questions).  You can’t have high production values on a zero-budget production and no crew….

So, yeah, criticisms welcome but don’t get mad if we can’t make the changes you suggest.

FILM DIARY

So here’s a review we’ve been working on.  Yes, I got to do the editing this time (Major Rah!) and of course feedback is welcome…

And don’t complain about those angled shots!  We know.  Believe me, we know…

We’re more than a little unschooled ourselves, and the producer is an advocate of “Experimental.”  So we were experimenting.  And in this case we all seemed to agree that the experiment failed…

Problem:

A number of the dead-on shots were unusable! They were one bad take after another.  I guess people just lost track of which camera was shooting when Paul flubbed his lines, else we certainly would have gone back and re-did some of the head-on shots.

Anyway, this is far from perfect but that’s exactly what you’ve got to expect from a bunch of volunteers, and amateurs at that, working out of one public access station or another…

If you want “Perfection” you’ve got to hire a studio crew. Or, at least be able to book the studio & talent for a second round (which we can’t, not for another month or more and everyone is impatient for another episode).

Darn.

WATCH THIS episode 3

This is the one that will finally generate some letters. Unfortunately they’re not the letters we’re looking for. It even got us banned in Medway for a time. Luckily, Catholics forgive.

Episode 3 still suffers from low production values — zero budget, all volunteer cast & crew — but the show is a great concept and is as strong as ever, particularly the writing.

WATCH THIS (episode 3)

The episode that got us banned from Medway!

Well, sort of.  They did tell us that they wouldn’t broadcast the show any more, but later they forgave us.  Or forgot.

NOTE:  These early episodes amaze me.  i mean, most of us clearly had no idea what we were doing.  The production quality is raw, to say the least, but when you consider that we’re all volunteers with little or no training — i.e. wannabes — we really came out with a top-notch show for public access.  Yes we’ve looked and we really were of above average quality.

Okay, so that might say more about our competition than us…

Say what you want about our production values, particularly on this early episodes (we all said it before you), but the concept is solid, the on screen talent is pretty good and most of the writing it excellent.  So there.

“Watch This.”

The latest episode. Way wicked cool with bells swinging.

Feedback welcome.

Kira Barnum test video. Criticisms welcome.

Gawaine Ross test video.

We post these things hoping for (but rarely ever receiving) feedback. Negative feedback is okay, so long as it’s constructive. “I don’t like it” or even “I hate it” is unactionable. “It’s too long” is something we can fix…

As an example, since posting this we’ve already shortened it slightly, decreased the volume on the water in the end, increased the volume of the voice over and… and… well, I guess that’s about it.
